Christmas Trees for Businesses 2024
The Town Council is offering Christmas trees to businesses for 2024. Our package price includes a 120-150cm tree fitted with LED light sets, installation and maintenance, removal and disposal at the end of the season, and storage of lights for 2025. Trees will be installed from 12th November 2024 onwards.

Major repairs to DCC's Weir Bridge, the "love lock" footbridge, Bakewell
Derbyshire County Council has advised us of works to the 25-year-old Weir footbridge, spans the River Wye close to Bakewell town centre.
DCC says it's showing signs of corrosion on the steel structure and wear and tear to the pedestrian walkway.

Plans for a new Banking Hub for Bakewell progress as meeting is held with local MP
Derbyshire Dales District Council held a meeting of Bakewell Banking Hub stakeholders on Friday 12 July.
The meeting was attended by John Whitby MP and stakeholders agreed to collaborate in the preparation of a 'business case' to enable Mr Whitby to progress discussions with the government minister. It was proposed that Bakewell Town Council co-ordinate activity.

DDDC Public consultation plan as six possible temporary Traveller sites are identified
Six possible temporary Traveller sites have been identified for debate by a special meeting of Derbyshire Dales District Council's Community & Environment Committee next week.
If councillors agree to the list, the locations will be subject to a six-week public consultation to enable local people to have their say.

Camper vans at Holme Lane
The Town Council is aware that Holme Lane is frequently being used as informal overnight stopovers for camper vans, with the location being advertised several websites.
Residents and users of Holme Lane have reported that this has been the cause of anti-social behaviour which has included littering and even the dumping of human waste.

Tree Planted in memory of former Mayor
A Cercis Siliquastrum has been planted at Bath Gardens in memory of former Mayor of Bakewell, Cllr Hilary Young, using part of the bequest he left to the Town Council for Town Centre trees.
