Derbyshire Dales District Council has issued the following news release:

Bin collections in the Derbyshire Dales are being impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.

Staff absences due to self-isolation measures mean garden waste collections will be suspended from Friday to enable our teams to focus on recycling and general household waste collections.

Postponed: Bakewell Annual Town Meeting Wednesday 1st April 2020

Following HM Government advice about the COVID-19 virus, it is with regret that the decision has been taken to postpone the Annual Town Meeting due to have been held at Bakewell Town Hall at 7pm on Wednesday 1st April 2020.

A new date will be published when matters become clearer.

Bakewell is Britain’s best large outdoor market

It's official! Derbyshire Dales District Council's fabulous weekly Bakewell market is the BEST large outdoor market in the country.

Our Monday market picked up the accolade today at the Great British Markets of the Year 2020 awards.

Events and Raffle raise £1150 for Rowsley School

Events and Raffle raise £1150 for Rowsley School

Cllr Bill Storey, Orvis Bakewell and members of staff from Park Pantry, Great Longstone handed over a cheque for £1150 to pupils of Rowsley School.

The School was severely affected by the flooding in November 2019 when both the Derwent and Wye rivers burst their banks.

Community Litter Pick

DCllr Alasdair Sutton and DCllr Mark Wakeman are organising a Community Litter Pick at variousl locations around Bakewell on Sunday 19th January 2020 starting at Bakewell Pet Supplies at 9am, and continuing until dusk.

Volunteers are welcome to join the Litter Pick for as long or short a time as you can spare. All are welcome but under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
