Bin collections impacted by coronavirus outbreak

Derbyshire Dales District Council has issued the following news release:

Bin collections in the Derbyshire Dales are being impacted by the coronavirus outbreak.

Staff absences due to self-isolation measures mean garden waste collections will be suspended from Friday to enable our teams to focus on recycling and general household waste collections.

Food waste will be collected fortnightly - with household waste - rather than weekly.

Dales residents are being warned there is a possibility that rounds will not be completed in the current exceptional circumstances as Serco have adopted the Government's social distancing guidelines, meaning two rather than the usual three staff on each truck.

A District Council spokesperson said: "Our appeal to residents is please be patient. There is no need to report a missed collection in the coming days. If any food, recycling or general waste containers are not emptied as scheduled, please leave them out and we will get to you as soon as possible."
